Wouldn’t it be great if kids swimsuits were bright and playful, provided all day comfort, was sourced ethically, and also provided a great teaching opportunity for our kids? Well, we did just that! One of our core missions is to create a kids swimwear brand that teaches our kids at a young age about the importance of protecting our planet. We wanted to do our part to make our planet healthier for future generations without having to sacrifice and completely eliminate products we love, like swimsuits. After all, there is nothing better than creating memories with our kids at the beach or poolside. So, we’ve endeavored to create eco-friendly suits that are not only too cute to handle, but also durable and long-lasting so our customers can buy less by buying better.
And, we are proud to say our swimsuits are made from eco-friendly fabrics including recycled polyester and recycled nylon!
Here's a short description about our fabrics...
Recycled polyester, otherwise known as rPet, is made from post-consumer materials such as plastic bottles that have been diverted from landfills. Using recycled poly replaces the need to source new petroleum to produce conventional polyester, and conserves water and energy while emitting less greenhouse gases. Garments created from recycled polyester, such as our swimsuits, aim to be continuously recycled with no degradation of quality while further minimizing wastage. This means polyester garment manufacturing could potentially become a closed loop system. Recycled poly has improved over the years with the increase in demand and it’s now virtually interchangeable with conventional polyester while being environmentally superior!
Our swimsuits are also made from recycled nylon, a fabric called ECONYL®. ECONYL® is made from post-consumer materials, such as fishing nets, fabric scraps from mills, and carpets destined for landfill. ECONYL’s process is 4-fold. First, it starts with rescuing post-consumer materials from landfills and oceans all over the world. Then, these materials are sorted and cleaned to recover as much of the nylon as possible. Through regeneration and a purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. The nylon is then processed into textile yarn and sold to brands, like us. ECONYL’s nylon is exactly the same as virgin nylon and can be recycled and recreated infinitely!
We can't wait to introduce new eco-friendly suits and other innovative eco-products as we continue to venture into the world of sustainable fashion.
And, don't forget to let your little girl know that by wearing her Seasalt Kids swimsuit, she is doing her part in protecting this planet!
